How to: 10 steps to set up your own website for FREE!

This is a guide I made for those who want to create their own website with a free webhosting and domain registration.

As we are all aware of, creating a website requires a fair amount of money for Webhosting-services and for Domain name purchasing.

For those who have no idea how a website is created, here's a simple list of necessities to create a website:

Niche - What your website is all about (in other words, your subject). The more specific, the better.

Domain name - It is the name of your website, for example: www.myownwebsite.com (if you want a .com -- .net -- .org -- .info -- .biz -- .ph or other extentions, you have to pay in order to register one and it usually costs 9 USD ~24 USD (or 500php~1200php) per year.

Web host - This is where you're website is being hosted and where you will be uploading your website, as in literally your website. (prices varies on how the web hosting company charges, it maybe in monthly or yearly basis)

So here's a guide on how to create your own website without paying for anything!

WARNING: Expect low quality services from free webhosting companies like frequent downtime and low assistance services since you're not paying or anything to that company.


This guide is based on how I set up a co.cc domain name in Awardspace webhosting.


STEP 1

Go to www.awardspace.com and register for a free account and get an instant activation!


or go HERE and see a list of free web hosting sites followed by basic information.


STEP 2

Go to www.co.cc to register your own "www.mywebsite.co.cc" domain name fore FREE!


STEP 3

Register your domain.

STEP 4

Set up your domain.

STEP 5


Click Name Server and provide the required Name Server information.

(Name servers can usually be found at your webhosting user page when you log in or sent via email by your webhost. As to www.awardspace.com , it has four Name Servers and the NS information is sent via email for user's convenience and as to www.000webhost.com, it has two Name Servers -- ns01.000webhost.com and ns02.00webhost.com.)

Fill Name Server 1 with ns1.awardspace.com
Fill Name Server 2 with ns2.awardspace.com
Fill Name Server 3 with ns3.awardspace.com
Fill Name Server 4 with ns4.awardspace.com

then click SET UP.

Note: DNS updating may take up to 48 hours (So you might not be able to access your domain until the update is done).


STEP 6

Go back to awardspace and log-in to Hosting Control Panel.


STEP 7

Navigate down to the bottom page and click Hosting Settings (at the left sidebar)


Step 8

Under Website Manager, click Domain Manager, then enter your domain name and click Add Domain (e.g. mywebsite.co.cc)
Step 9

Upload atleast an Index/Home page to your webhost. Wait until the status of your domain says "DNS update is completed and your domain is working!"

STEP 10

Check out your newly set up domain and and enjoy your no-fee-website! :3
